Does anyone know of a stand alone file browser for PHP, which would open in a pop up window from a form and allow the user to browse files in a directory and/or upload to that directory. When they select a file, it would then close the pop up window and return the selection to the relevant field in the form.
I've been searching around frantically and can't find anything. Looking for something similar in functionality to the TinyMCE Image Manager, only outside that application. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dave, problem is I want to let them browse and select existing files on the web server, not from their local machine. Unless I am missing a straight forward way to do this? Thanks.

a quick google search for php file browser came up with many results, here is one:http://www.webfilebrowser.org. You may have to customize it for your needs though.

After trying out a few PHP/Ajax, I've settled on this one, which just uses one PHP file.

You don't need a PHP script. Simply link to the directory without an index.html file and be sure the permissions for that directory are correct. This will allow browsing of the files as links. They can then be accessed and downloaded.

I think he was talking about browsing your own computer from a form. When using the browse feature, a window opens on your computer to browse your files for selecting the one you want to upload to the site.
However, the original question involved browsing files on a site and then downloading to the visitor. Actually, browsers download files from a site automatically. If they didn't, you wouldn't be able to view the site.

I decided to pay the 300 euros for the Enterprise Version of MCFileManager - from Moxicode.
To clarify exactly what the purpose/implementation of this is: - In an admin centre for a site I am working on, some of the input fields are for images/audio/other media files. I could have just done a simple file upload, but wanted to allow them to browse and preview existing files on the server and either select one of these, or alternatively upload new files and/or create new remote directories. The MCFileManager does all this perfectly and is seamlessly integrated into my admin system.
