Default Uploading .mpeg files

I have a classifieds website where people advertise businesses for sale once they become a member. The advertisement then waits for my approval in the admin.

I would like to include an option for people to upload a 30 sec .mpeg file (optional) in there advertisement. How should I go about this? I am not familar. Is it as simple as adding some php code?

All help appreciated.

regards

watto

It would be much simpler to instead include a form field for YouTube embed code. They upload to YouTube, send you the code to embed, then you simply include the code on their page in your directory.

The reason you want to do it this way is that if there are copyright infringement issues or other issues, it's not on your site, you're not responsible. You won't ever have bandwidth issues either, since you won't be hosting the video, even if it does show on your webpage.

good advice bj, I would certainly do that if I wanted vids on my site.

watto: you will probably need to explain (educate) to your advertisers how they can get the videos on YouTube. Perhaps the easiest way is to refer them to YouTube with instuctions on "how to" while also trying not to lose any potential advertisers. Directing people away from your site when they fill in a form may potentially mean that they won't come back to complete it.
