I am developing a web project that needs your input. Not about site design but about what programs to use to bind this project together.
I here so much about the pros and cons of each type of program when talking about a specific problem but what I need, is your opinions on what programs would work best with each other to avoid most problems. To give you an idea on what this project is about go to http://www.members.shaw.ca/asbnet/ to get a preview. Here are some of the needs; - page designs with different styles such as CSS, ASP,template forms, printable pages without borders - a data base for members, articles, pictures, forms, etc. - e commerce capability within a given page - a management program to oversee the whole project Also most functions, if not all, should be able to be done in a wysiwyg format. Why? Because it simplifies project management and repairs. What programs would you use if had to start all over again? |

1. CSS Support is vastly improved in MX 04 compared to MX. 2. user management system can be created using builtin server behaviors. 3. A Content Management System can be built for articles with builtin server behaviors 4. For picture gallery I would suggest the free one from ncubed http://www.dwfaq.com/store/detail/?id=n3GalFree 5. For uploading pictures I would suggest a commercial extension from dmxzone http://www.dmxzone.com/ShowDetail.asp?NewsId=1622 6. For ecommerce I recommed a. Charon Cart 2 (free) http://www.charon.co.uk/content.aspx?categoryid=2 b. Ultra Cart II (commercial) http://www.thechocolatestore.com/ultradev/ 7. An Admin section can be built with builtin server behaviors

Thanks ranjan for your insite.
So, you suggest MX 04 for page production and site management but seperate programs for picture galleries, uploading pictures and ecommerce. What about a database and site communication with that database? I presently use Access 97 and I know it is inadequate for the job especially if this grows to the size of, let's say WebProWorld. What does WebProWorld use? I think I'll ask them. |
