Default Help me with XML feeds

Is there anyone in here who knows about xml feeds? Anyone who knows a good deal of sources to read or something that can give out a sample written code -- if codes are necessary?

Thanks guys.

Thanks webnauts. I found something like xml to rss. Now I'm confused. Because I was told that xml are written as rss feeds. With this one you've given me, it means the two are different?

It's the other way. An rss feed is basically an xml document that is created in accordance with the rss specification.

If you fancy a read this is probably the best source of info i have found on rss specs

Just one thing Mike, do all programmers know about xml? I'm thinking of passing this work to a programmer friend of mine. Enjoy reading.

XML itself is just a markup language for structuring data. In it's most basic form it isn't very complicated so any programmer should be able to read up on it.

As with all things the complexity lies in what you want to do with it. Are you specifically looking to create an rss feed for your site? If so that is relatively simple, especially if your content is db driven.

The work is actually like this: There will be two SEs that will be installed to collect data. When installation is finished I will have to write xml to combine the data and present them to previous interface.

Hi Webnauts - do you use this yourself on any of the sites you've dealt with? Would be interested in knowing what your experiences were?

Darren.

Sort of Darren. Is this for free or this is something that would cost me something?
