graphic indicator that member has paid

Hello All,

I am working on a project that requires the sales of a novelty item to alumni of a certain school to help pay for the building of a new library. There will potentially be 2,500 individual sales generated through a web interface. A main list of all the students will be on a web page available for viewing by all, seperated by decades and years, depending on when they graduated. Once an alumni (former student) has paid for their item, their name on the web page will be bold, colored or a graphic will show up next to it (or all the above).

My idea, instead of doing it manually, one by one - obviously NOT time/cost efficient, would be to have a script of sorts, that once a person has made a payment, their name automatically gets updated to show that they have contributed to the building of the new library.

I am very familiar with Joomla! CMS and was hoping to find a module or component that would allow me to do this, but I have not been able to find any such thing. Can anyone here throw out any ideas?

Without knowing the payment system, or transaction processing system that would need to be called ..
it would be hard to propose anything other than a manual solution..
