Default How do you make it so that a person can update their own add

I am new to php. But, i thought that it might be the best solution to my situation. And i really like the whole flexibility that includes offer.

I am now familiar with includes.

I would like to create a way for people to upload and update information to my website.

For instance, if i had an advertiser. I thought it would be nice if they could create their own add and update it as they wanted. But, there would have to be some size limitations.

I thought that i would be able to put an include on the page(s) where it belongs. And the client could manage their own add after that.

I thought that maybe creating a form for the person to go to might work.

But, i am not real clear on how to do that coding so that it would write to the file that is going to be included into the page.

So, i didn't want to waste a whole ton of time learning that, only to find that i went the wrong way.

I have datbases on my hosting account. But, again that represents a large learning curve.

I am not afraid to learn stuff. and actually really enjoy it. But, do to time constraints, i would like to learn the stuff in the best order.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this would be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of scripts out there - some open source, others very affordable - that will enable you to install a database and system that will do what you want.

For example if you Google "classified ad scripts": results

Try other phrases and see what you can find that will work for you.

Good luck!

Default Thanks

Thank you for the tip.

I never thought of doing a classified add search (da!!!)

I was a bit embarassed to even post this question. But, I just saw so many potential wasted hours ahead of me going the wrong direction.

I will give it a shot.

Thanks again, bodgekaloopie

p.s. will be checking backk from time to time to see any other suggestions that might be out there. As with most scripts that are free, a link back is required. I would like to be able to benefit somebody from this forum before some obscure individual.

Don't be embarassed. We're all here to learn... and believe me, I've done far more learning than teaching!

We are fortunate to have so many knowledgeable individuals who are willing to spend their time on this forum helping others.

Thanks to all the brainiacs out there!
