Default MySQL being populated by garbage

I am experiencing an odd phenomenon in one my tables in MySQL database. In any one 24 hour period it has new rows inserted which are populated with spurious data. Some fields only have random symbols, other have numbers in excess of what could be posted via any form on the site. Interstingly the timestamp is not triggered.

I have not experienced this before in "sister" sites which have same table/form setups.

Any one shed light on this?

Ian

check your web logs for multiple hits from an IP - sounds like someone trying to hack you or send junk mail

Best I can come up with based upon the lack of info as far as the purpose of any forms on the site (if any) and if no forms, the security of the server (other sites on it, shared/dedicated etc)

The main form is linked to Worldpay. Fortunately the garbage cannot be seen due to access level not activated

Shared server for the moment (not a problem with other sites on same server).

Check your directories of PHP files for strange additions.

When a site of mine was hacked I found a default.php file in the images folder.

Thanks for suggestion. Luckily nothing untoward lurking.

I have just written a delete script that wipes out the garbage when the site is fired up.
