Default ASP or ASP.NET

My cart system was ASP and I had a programmer tell me I should move to ASP.NET is there a good reason for one to do this. He tells me ASP is outdated?

ASP.Net has more built-in functionality...

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...(big but)...

the output code that ASP.NET generates is a big mess.

I've also been using ASP for almost six years, and once you develop subs and functions for it, it'll be fine, just fine.

I never used asp but was very in to vb6. I am using asp.net and yes things do take longer to do at the start but once you get a good model going and start using some of the free programs which speed up development (gental etc) then you will prfer asp.net

It has alot more to offer

I find some things can be done easier in both formats.
if you are looking for simple layout and functionality then use ASP. If you are needing your site to do heavy number crunching then use ASP.Net.

It just a simple rule of using the right tool for the job .
