Default News Feed on desktop/other sites?

Hi,
I am trying to figure out a way to put make a news feed available for people to put on their desktop and on their websites. Something where I would be able to update it from my system.
The test page I have set up to work on this project is http://www.ultimatebassin.com/NewsFeed.htm
I've got it working on my computers, am trying to figure out how to make this work with an installation package or something similar to make it easier on viewers to install on their systems. Anybody have a script etc. for this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

easiest way to release a news feed for your site would be using RSS / ATOM IMHO. People are then free to use whatever news reader they are happy with, and other sites could use your feed to list your content.

If you're familiar with XML it shouldn't be all that difficult to create one from scratch, if not there are tonnes of free tools out there to create one
