Default Just how do YOU define content management?

Content management. Hmmmmmm...

Content management is management of content. Yes, that is true. Now that this has been established, exactly what is content and what is management?

For many, content refers to the HTML, XML, JAVA, PHP, etc. and management refers to the implementation of said entities in a framework that results in the most efficient exchange between interested parties human and machine alike.

However, there is also another kind of content management that until recently has been somewhat overlooked.

This type of content management has to do with RELEVANCY. The context of this relevancy can be anywhere and anything you like it is a generic assertion within the field of web development.

Where I see a unique need in the field of content management is in search result relevancy. With SEO becoming increasingly frought with "business" people, it is proportionately incremental that the irrelevancy of search results would increase. This is basic human nature. Lie cheat steal and degrade any standard for a buck. If it works do it. The end justifies the means etc.

Well I say No to that! I have decided to start a site that conforms to rigorous standards of uniform advertisement and content. Each and every inclusion will be allocated according to strict channels of monitored content and the relevancy and usefulness of every entry will be according to user input and critique.

Has anybody ever wondered how the big search engines could ever get away with charging somebody to be the 1,000,000th inclusion in their directory without also asking the question of is there a better way?

Sure there are little engines popping up everywhere and I think that is great. However, I would like to see it take greater leap than the pocket book and get down to brass tacks. Usefulness and relevancy NOT just popularity and optimization to a robot who knows nothing about these things.

Sincerely,

Default More on CMS

It’s a long and arduous task that we have embarked upon, but the great news is that we have finally reached our goal of compilation and presentation is going at a steady pace. The joy that we feel is unmatched and we hope that all of you will feel this joy as well as we struggle to bring into being a premiere managed resource facility. Within the pages of this resource facility you will find the best of the best. You will find communities brimming with contacts and you will find rest from the desperation of Scamville and the annoyance of Spamcity. Here we are always raising the bar on what to expect from a FREE managed resource facility. Here we are bringing true usefulness to what has elsewhere become a den of thieves.

The term “resource facility” is not new to the internet. In fact, the concept of a “resource facility” is not new in any sense of the word. So why are we doing what we are doing? Are we struggling to bring you something that has already been invented? No, because we feel that we are returning the dignity, honesty and accountability to managed resources.

“Resource facility” can be used to define just about any facility which compiles resources for presentation to the public. However, this in no way insures that there is any sense or integrity to the resources presented. In fact, it is often the case that many manipulative external factors can influence the robotic nature of these “resource facilities” and seriously undermine the integrity of resources provided for public scrutiny.

The largest and most known of these resource facilities is called a search engine and is comprised of a huge database of sites containing varied content and a coded script which allows access to this database via "keywords" which a user will input into the script parameters via a search form. The largest and most know form of manipulation of this type of facility is SEO, or search engine optimization. SEO and its influence on the World Wide Web serves as an effective tool for understanding the need for human management of presented information. The process of optimizing a site for placement upon the search engines has become a game of misleading proportions as “keywords” and “descriptions” no longer match the intention of their sites in order to garner a top position in ANY and EVERY traffic flow regardless of its relevance. This business oriented decision in regard to presentation has left the general populace scratching their head and wading through umpteen billion irrelevant sites in order to reach a relevant information return.

A Human Edited Adaptable Directory (H.E.A.D.) is the nearest thing to a managed resource facility. However, it must be noted that it does not provide content management beyond insurance of relevant and integral presentation according to the original search query. There is no virtual help desk to begin implementing coalescence of the various intellectual objects into a fully formed function for that end user. In most cases the user is left to fend for itself in regard to putting it all together within “channels” of interest that fulfill or resolve that user’s initial interest endeavor. In other words it is assumed that the user knows what to do with what it finds. This may be the case in some instances, however, any such case will be in the minority.

This is where "managed" resource provision enters the scene. Not only will the resource the user encounters be managed for its content relevancy, but the user can be assured that the relevant content is also user adaptable into a channel of interest endeavor that yields a pragmatic, tangible result coinciding with that user’s original area of interest.

This latest development of purpose is assured with the use of area specific tutorials that guide and educate the user along this specific “channel” of interest such that the end result is one of satisfaction and completion according to the criterion and specific desire of the user that is interfacing. It would do not a bit of good to present information, relevant or irrelevant, in a giant arena of possible source finds without some sort of guide that both educates and assembles these source finds into usable connectable systems with a yield of productivity commensurate to the level of interest endeavor initiated by the user.

That being said it is further useless to enter expectations of productivity without further defining the parameters of said productivity within a framework that is geared toward that user’s initial interest thrust.

What does all this mean in plain English? What is being said here is that it is better to have a managed path to walk upon when one is trying to garner sense out of any function related search on the internet today than to wander about willy-nilly in search of co-relational fields of interest that “just may” coincide.

It is better for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the conservation of time. The benefit of such a system is akin to the difference between a search of a village bazaar market for books and the Dewey decimal system located in your local public library. Sure, after several hours, the user may just find what they need. However, it may not be in the best shape and consecutively, it may also not be adaptable to the user’s interest endeavor as the language it contains may or may not be readily assimilated by the end user in any way functional to the original interest endeavor.

With these points being brought to light, how is it possible then to ensure that the original interest endeavor is served to its fullest appropriate potential? First, simply provide a relevant, integral search object that has been viewed and recommended by a relevant source, in this case a human being (not a robot, as there is no distinction between relevancy or irrelevancy in any real terms by such a mechanism). Secondly, you must provide an incentive to completion within any intellectual construct that is easily and readily accessible by the majority of users within that interest endeavor, one that makes it plain and common to all users. We will call this consensus. This can be accomplished with the use of polls and user input as to what is an incentive and what is clearly not. Finally, you must “connect the dots” by insuring that the educational level of the user is commensurate with the interest endeavor to which your relevant presentation of search finds and incentives have given hope. In this way you have achieved a purposeful interest endeavor that has yielded a pragmatic, tangible result for that user. The mechanistic robot powered search engine has evolved into an interactive living directory.

In example one could use E-commerce. In this interest endeavor, the need for tools to insure proper and profitable E-commerce is the necessary intellectual property or object that is at the heart of the search parameters of that users launch onto the World Wide Web through an unmanaged content provider such as a public domain search engine, any will do for this example. Our user, let us call him Bob, wants to be sure that whatever search find he locates will lead him to sure success on the web as an internet business man. Given the obvious ambiguity within this interest margin, and the built in ambiguity of the medium itself, it is hardly rocket science that is needed to determine this man’s fate in regard to the usefulness of this plethora of information to the intended resolution of his interest endeavor.

For this example, let’s say another user, we shall call her Sue, is frustrated by continual ambiguity in her searches and opts for its logical antithesis, “managed resource provision”. As such she starts her interest endeavor under management that has considered the relevant paths that someone searching for reasonable connectivity within the realm of E-Commerce can humbly expect. Sue then finds herself within a field of presented choices that have been pre-screened by a human being, with like modes of understanding and expectations, which has assembled a cast of likely suitors to perform a relevant resolution to her interest endeavor. How comfortable she feels that she is already past the initial fear of the unknown and how wonderful it is that she has begun to build a level of trust with this first proverbial “handshake” with her garnered, relevant intellectual objects.

Next Sue is encouraged to visit a term specific tutorial that is immediately relational to her interest endeavor’s resolution. She then is educated to the point that unreasonable expectations in regard to her interest endeavor are avoided and she is then qualified to effect a change in her interest endeavor from intellectual to pragmatic. It is in this way that the initial trust of the relevancy and connectivity of the medium, in this case a managed resource facility, is effectually transformed into the tangible as she enacts the activation of a series of choices within appropriate and screened channels of now trusted information.

Now let's have a quick comparison. Bob is most likely still mired in a tiresome search of what may be millions of “relevant” search finds trying to sort out for himself the path upon which he must embark in order to affect the most profitable exchange with the World Wide Web. Sue, on the other hand, is already working a business which she is educated to administer and because of that education she is successfully teaching others to do the same thereby reinforcing the effectiveness of the system as a whole and lending credence to the concept through referrals who duplicate this same effectiveness and trust in themselves. In fact, it is not unreasonable to suppose that for this very reason also the system autocorrects itself as user input will invariably weed out the undesirable or fictitious through the necessity of pragmatic tangibility.

Upon these considerations, we highly endorse managed resource facilities wherever and whenever they occur as long as they are run by human beings and are user input sensitive as to what is or is not considered relevant within an averaged result implantation schematic. Furthermore these averaged results must be reflected as changes to the presented data on a timely basis such that the real time users can feel that their trust is not abandoned with outdated or irrelevant information. Just because something “appears or is present” does not make it relevant or even useful.

It is the responsibility of compilers of information systems to ensure that the information they present is readily conjoined with both the pragmatic and the tangible. This being equally ambiguous from generic person to generic person, an average, or consensus, of user input shall dictate the norm.

Avoiding total chaos is accomplished with the implementation of help authored “platforms” upon which endeavors of interest reside to which the user may solicit their desires. The bottom line is that the internet should be a more dignified place which yields a dignified experience precisely because it presents itself in a worthy manner as its information yields are reliably relevant while pragmatically tangible and monitored as such.
