Round 2 - Organizing folders, slideshow

Second post... 1st one was a total success. Thx to all who responded, especially Christian and Malachim who did actually put together a "free" rework of my site. It was great and I have used that effectively as a starting point or template for my new site. Thanks www.ackadia.com. New questions...

Sizing of site or better yet determining how long it will take to load for a "dial-up", for example. As My site is currently not "on the web" but in "dev", are there tools to validate "load" speeds? I have tried to keep pix small but wonder...

How about best way to organize folders...
I currently inherited a structure like this...
root folder - home.html and markngard.css
Under that...
body - all other pages
menu - contains graphics

Is there a traditional way to do it?

CGI question. In my old webpage, I have a simple form which works ok. It apparently uses something called formhandler.cgi to carry out process. My newest webpage has a much nicer form approach (thx to Malachim) however it uses formmail.cgi. Do I need to talk to my hoster and see whether they can handle this formmail.cgi or will it just work? It appears in my dev situation now I am unable to test this. When I try to fill in and submit in a "review" mode it just dies with a message that indicates a program is missing. Is there a way to test a cgi script?

Last question... One of my pages is a "how to". I am thinking I want to show a series of pix illustrating the process... a "slideshow"! Is this a good approach and where do I go for sample code, etc. I am thinking this could help in loading as a whole page of pix won't be loaded at once. How to do this best way?

Personally I prefer good ole HTML for this type of thing. It is simple, fast loading and effective. But if you want to spice up the presentation a bit take a look at what Macromedia Flash can do. It comes with several templates designed to give you a head start on projects similar to yours. Or if you dont want to go that route. Read up on CSS and DHTML together they can do some amazing things.
