Coded access area of e-commerce site...HOW?

Hi experts,
I have an e-commerce site http://www.furthrows.com and also http://www.furthrows.co.uk supplying items direct to public. I want to add pages that can only be accessed by an account number (specifically for trade accounts who can buy and order the same items at trade prices etc.) Can anyone advise any free coding or places to look at that might explain (in idiots terms) how I can achieve this. Any help/guidance would be appreciated.
