Default Text Editor

I'm doing some work with PHP at the moment. Although I've been using Dreamweaver as my editor, I came across this:

http://www.metaproducts.com/

(LightPad is free, WebStudio is an upgrade from it, available as a 30 day trial).

So far, I've been impressed. I may well pay for upgrade if the trial continues to work out as well as it has...

I prefer UltraEdit (http://www.ultraedit.com/) myself. Very easy to work with & it offers different editing modes & HTML Tidy will even integrate into it.

Useful. Anyone else with anymore?

(Just for the record, Lightpad and WebStudio also offer different editing modes and contain their own HTML/XHTML/etc. validation engines).

Zend Studio is very feature rich. based on java so I had problems of stability on my machine only wish it were free. available on windows and linux
www.zend.com

NuSphere PHPEd - Awesome PHP IDE only missing one feature. The code beautifier. I use this one on a daily basis. 30 day trial. available on windows and linux
www.nusphere.com

PHPEdit - Very nice FREE php editor. If I didn't pay for nusphere I'd be using this one. The developers of this great software also put out "Code Beauitfier" and application I can't do without. only windows version is available
www.phpedit.com

last but not least.

PICO - PINE text editor. love this one for my remote editing. If you want a simple remote editor and are too lazy to memorize vim or emacs commands try this one.

Two other excellent editors are:
SourceEdit, which handles a variety of languages colour coding the code, and
AceHTML really a HTML editor, but interfaces with other languages.

Both freeware.[/url]
