Default Verification Code to Stop Spam??

Hello everyone,

Please bear with me on this question if it is a dumb one because I know what I am trying to say but I don't really know how to say it...

OK, here's my problem...

I have an article submission on my wesite where I only accept legitimate articles. You can see it at

http://www.work-at-home-jobs-iowa.co...newarticle.php

So anyway, I get plenty of legitimate submissions each day but I also get hundreds of spam posts from casinos, viagra, and all that other crap that everyone spams.

I know these are automatic spam submissions generated by some sort of robot because they are always the same and there is a lot of them at a time.

This is taking way too much of my time to delete them all and it is running up my bandwidth too.

I have seen on many sites where they have a "verification code" or "security code" that consists of numbers and/or letters that change all the time. You have to type these in exactly as they are before your submission is allowed.

I was just wondering if there is anywhere I can get one of those that will work on my submission form (link is above)????

Any help would be very much appreciated!!!!!

Thanks,
Trent

Yes, there is. You can find loads of software that will do it for you on the 'net.

I'm pretty sure you need to have both a MySQL database and PHP running on your server for it to work though.

These automatic submissions are bypassing your form and submitting directly to you. You can use a proxy page to forward the form to you with a second form validation. If is has its own back end form validation then they cant auto submit very effectively.

You can also use an image verification, but you will need to do the above and setup a database to get it to work properly.

The other thing you could is gather the IP address of the spammer(s) and simply block them from accessing that page. It might be a lot easier from a coding standpoint.
