Default IE sudden login problems on PHP built site

A few weeks ago, some of our members reported not being able to login with IE. I have XP and get automatic updates.

I found that I now can not login using IE, but can login to members section using Netscape. The site is built in PHP and the site files have not changed.

Anyone else experiencing this type of problem with IE? I've already tried accepting ALL cookies, activex settings are on, dumping cookies, temp files, security setting is LOW.

Use a safer browser like Firefox or Opera

Default Don't use IE

I personally do not use IE, however, my clients like to complain long and loud when they are instructed to download other applications and feel that it "gives the impression" that we (as web developers) can not do good enough job to code for all browsers.

Professionally, it is not the best answer (although it IS an answer), to recommend using Netscape to login with or Opera. We have been recommending Netscape or Opera - but like I said.....the clients are not open to explainations "WHY it doesn't work." All they see is that we have an online application that doesn't work on their favorite browser. As usual, the user doesn't blame the browser or app on their machine; the blame is always placed on the web site itself.

In any event, our senior programmer did write something that would work properly in the script and now the client's members can login using IE 6. It would have been a non-issue had we not inherited the site code from other programmers (the client had many problems with them). Its always harder to take over other programmers' problematic scripts.
