Default PHP Webmail site

Hi all,

I am trying to set up my own webmail site.

I have already created the template etc. and can send eMails easily using the php mail() function.

However, i have no idea as to how i can get the site to receive emails sent to the mail server.

Can anyone shed some light?

I just simply dont know where to start, but want to be able to receive the emails.

Many thanks,

Darren.

You will need to do a bit of studying on sockets and the smtp protocol.

Basically you specify the host name, (username and password if using authentication) then connect a socket to port 110 to retrieve data.

Download the free webmail applications horde, squirrelmail and webmail to see how they interact with the mailserver.

Hope that helps you get started.
