Simple problem

I'm new to ASP and am trying to validate a txt field on a form that I am making for my website. I'm using isNumeric to determine if all of the characters in a field are numbers and it is working sort of. Here is what it is doing: example) I submit the numbers "123" and it passes. "123abc" it fails. "123-" it fails. "1-3" it fails. "-123" it passes. Why would it pass a "-" if it is in the first spot. I can find no other character that will pass, why will this one and why only in the first spot? Very confused... Please help.

-123 is numeric. It is a negative number.
