Default How do you make templates

I have no idea what script language you would use or if it is even possible

But heres what I want to do:

I want to have a master page with a lot of other pages identical to it, apart from some text and a bit of code.

Can I make it so that when I edit the master page - (eg: the colours etc) all of the pages based of it get changed as well.

Thanks.

PS sorry if this is in wrong forum.

I believe you'll find this a function of the development tool you use (dreamweaver or frontpage). Look at the template documentation for the tool.

I have never used FrontPage (honest) but templates in Dreamweaver are a snap. Just create a new template instead of a new document and it basically tags everything for you.

Before I finally gave in and learned how to use Frontpage (just this past year!) I was doing my own html and used SSI (server side includes) to create navigation that would be the same on each page.

So if you don't have a program, you can do a search for SSI tutorial and do it that way.

I have to say, I love Frontpage!

On my web site, I wanted the "top" to look the same on all pages.

I created a "top.html" file with my logo picture and my navigation bar.

Then as I createed each page in my web site I use an

include command to include the top.html file at the top of my body.

Any change I make to the top.html file is immediately seen on all pages.

There may be a better way, but this works for me.

You can see the results on my web site.

Look at the source code to see the include.
