Default New PHP/MySQL tutorial site for beginners

The site: fsjdb7 @ UAF's CIOS 246

Another great site: CIOS 246, Web Databases and Programming

Explanation
During the fall semester of 2004, I have been enrolled in CIOS 246, Web Databases and Programming, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, taught by Chris Lott.

While the course itself is an excellent introduction to PHP and MySQL, the material covered was mostly stuff I already knew. Because the material was relatively easy to me, I could whip out the assignments pretty quickly and thus had much time to devote to the aesthetics of the assignments. These assignments were submitted to the instructor by posting them to Web space made available to students on the course Web server.

I quickly realized that I would need some sort of management system for these assignments, so I designed a site around them. This site, unlike many other tutorial sites, is not profit-driven, but rather an attempt to help others learn PHP and MySQL.

I also decided that I wanted the site to be a little more fun, so I added a few simple tutorials just to show the power of a dynamically driven PHP and MySQL Web site.

If you find the site helpful and/or see an area for improvement (there are lots of them), please let me know via the contact page of my site.

To view the site, visit http://locus.dist-ed.uaf.edu/u/fsjdb7.

Also, the class Web site has excellent material compiled by the instructor, Chris Lott. All is licensed with a Creative Commons license, and so is freely available to those who wish to reuse the information. For newbies to PHP, this is an excellent resource--one I wish I had had when first learning PHP. My site is sort of an answer key for the assignments found here.
