Default Problems getting RSS to Validate

Hi:

We are trying to set up a RSS on our website.
http://www.seo-promotioninc.com/reso...tionperiod.asp

Not knowing what we were doing we tried to set up a RSS feed we could submit to syndication sites but the file won't validate. The file resides on the server at http://www.1st-on-the-list.com/rss/faq.rss but to keeps saying the file is not there.

I am not sure what the problem is or what to look at to find a solution. Anybody who has set one of these up that could help get us going forward would be appreciated.

RSS technically chellenged

The path to your RSS file is incorrect, it's as simple as that. Make sure of the path to the feed.. I checked out the site in your signature as well as the URL referenced in your post.. I can't see an "rss" directory listed on either site.

I get the same 404 error but the file actualy does reside on the server at that location. I can download it etc but not load it in a browser. Its located at http://www.seo-promotioninc.com/rss/faq.rss

What is a rss directory? I think it has an index page http://www.seo-promotioninc.com/rss/index.asp but I am not sure what you mean by rss directory

Thanks

If the file really is there... maybe it needs the correct permissions set to view, because currently it's not accessible and hence produces a "Page not found" error.

The "rss/index.asp" page opens just fine! So at least we now know you do have a "rss" directory (folder) on the site.

It took me awhile to get time to check out your idea paulhiles. It doesn't appear to be a permissions problem, we tried all the variations in MS Server 2003 to no avail. Then I tried switching the extension from RSS to XML and it validated properly. Before it just couldn't find the file. Any ideas what would cause that?
