Default Alternative to Yahoo Click Trails

Happy day,

I want to deliver more detailed analysis to a client about their paid-inclusion campaigns. A friend was showing me Yahoo's Click Trails for his store, but alas, my client isn't a store and doesn't want to spend $99 a month to set up a non-store on a store account.

Here is what I seek to do.

I want to create a report that shows me the various click paths coming from tracking URLs. For example, I want to know how many people who came from http://www.nameofsite.com/focus.html?source=google got to http://www.nameofsite.com/thankyou.html. I'd also like to know their pathways from one to the other.

Similarly, I'd like to know how many people who came from http://www.nameofsite.com/focus.html?source=google exited at http://www.nameofsite.com/contact.html.

Anyone have any favorite stats analysis programs that don't cost an arm and a leg but provide in depth details like that?

There are two products that I have some experience with and can recommend.

HavenInternet(http://www.haveninternet.com/live_stats.htm) has a product that allows you to track your visitors from start to finish.

The other is LiveStats from DeepMetrix (http://www.deepmetrix.com/) which a lot of hosts will supply for a few extra dollars a month. Though from my experience their hosted solutions have slightly more accurate tracking.

The big issue with tracking user paths is that you don't get a real clear picture when just using your log files, so programs that rely on the logs for path tracking Ive found to be fairly useless. But services that use active tracking (cookies for example) are much more accurate.

Happy day,

Thanks for the feedback. I will look into those solutions and see what's what.
