Default php script - for ranking link exchanges?

Hi,

Is there any software out there that allows me to rank link exchanges?

Example: if Mike trades links with me, his site moves up in rankings each time some visits my site from his. Thanks

You do know that that would require an id to be placed on each and every link you wanted to track? If you've got 300 links out there, each link to your site would have to be something like "http://yoursite.com/?id=257". Then either the program would have to check your logs, or the link id would have to actually point to a script on your site like "http://yoursite.com/caught.php?id=257". Wouldn't do much for your PR in that case (not that that's really mattering much anymore). Anyone with other ideas on how to validate this?

Linksmanager does an awesome job in my opinion and has been around long enough that you can save it from being a nuisance to your link sites (albeit there is still more work to be done). It provides, as many others do, the option to rank "partners" first. You can sort alphabetically, by link id, or have your links rotated so as to give everyone a chance at top billing.

My linksmanager page is at:
http://giftsforyou.biz/resources/index.php

Check out the clothing category, and you'll see they're not alphabetical. Instead, I sort them by when they came in (recips at top don't matter much for me because I have 95.6% recip exchange).

Neat concept though, checking from the other side. I'm sure there's something out there, but chances are it'll cost ... if only I had a free month. :)

I dont think you will need an id. You might capture the referrer from the server vars. Use only the domain and keep track of the number of times somebody is referred from that domain.

That doesn't work if the visitor is running Anti-Virus/Firewall software as the referrer information can be blocked by it.
