Default CMS and property listings

Hi all,

Anyone know a good CMS for use for Property Listings, both sale and rental.

I have been playing with PHPWebsite, and it is okay, but not having had a particular property module written for it, and not having the knowlege of php to write it myself, it is hard to keep the listings well indexed and accessible.

Any tips well appreciated!

Hi,

>>Anyone know a good CMS for use for Property Listings, both sale and rental. <<

If you are looking for custom programming PHPwebsite or any other app that you have downloaded - then I am sure you will get good programmers out there to assist you.

But your post brings up a hidden facet of CMS from being just a plain old simple HTML editor [ok with frills ike javascript etc.] to a full blown vertical app like rentals, mortgage, real estate or financial services or hospital management etc..

This opens up a whole new opportunity for new apps and integrate them with existing if any legacy systems or webservices [porting XML data] from other servers/services.

Thanks for giving me new ideas ;-)

I know this is old, but thought I'd post a couple apps in case anyone is still looking for a realty app.

I've used this one....... for a quick and simple realtor site.... nothing fancy

http://www.open-realty.org/
My simple site... http://www.sharonwhiting.com

Haven't tried this one....but looks promising.

www.mamboserver.com offers a great CMS system whilst at their community site, www.mamboportal.com are loads of differnt tempaltes, modules and componensts, including a housing listing component.
Open Reality is great, i have used it before, but if you are looking for a CMS as well, then try Mambo Open Source.

I had a look but couldn't find the realty module for Mambo. Do you have the URL?

I'm beginning to LOVE Mambo!

Thanks.

Hi there Lover,
I hope you won't mind if I tout our own solution here. Take a look at our real estate websites at :
http://www.holt-realty.com/
http://www.thaitopproperties.com/
http://www.thailandbangkokproperty.com

Each of these websites uses the same CMS system linked to a central MySQL database. Users can add/edit/delete records in any of these websites and the changes will be reflected in the other two.

The program was originally Open-Realty, but with daily use I have modified it considerably for a working real estate company, adding new fields, changing the look, and so on.

We sell it for $US1,000 fully installed and with lifetime free updates.

It's incredibly simple to use, can be used in any currency by making one change in the configuration file, where you can also set the number of pictures to display with each listing, and include Yahoo Maps as well. The Administration module allows you to add any number of new users, add/modify/delete listings using a simple Form interface.

Because of its modular design the header and footer can be custom designed using your logo and choice of colors. We also include up to 10 static pages for each client which can be accessed from the pull-down menu.

Although our websites are designed for Thailand, we can quickly adapt the program to any country. All we need from our clients, if they are not from the USA, is a list of the states or counties and we substitute them into the program.

If you prefer not to pay for a program, then go to http://www.open-realty.org/ and download the original program and then start customizing. It's definitely one of the best CMS programs I've found on the web for real estate listings.

And if you are a looking for a Car Sales listing program, you will find one on the same website. We are preparing to customize that as well and hope to have something ready by the end of the year.

Default Open-Realty

Well, if I ever get Open-Realty installed I'll try it!

I'm having problems installing it on my local machine. I don't usually have any problems, but the settings are not working for me.

The file common.php is looking for a function it can't find. The function, judging by the name, is used to add a new connection to the database.

Try searching files for the text string 'adonewconnection' first. If it's not there you may not have downloaded a full version. What version are you working on? I just checked the last version I downloaded about 6 months ago and I can't find common.php.

The other thing you could try is to comment out the line calling the function (put 2 slashes like this // in front of the line) and then see what happens. Let me know if you get another error message.

It might speed things up if you contact me by email sales@holt-realty.com, or talk to me online on Yahoo Messenger (ID marcthaith).

Default Fixed it!

Sorry about this, but I found one of the lines that I'd changed had a missing single quote(dumb!) and I misunderstood the "base" URL. Once I understood that, I got it going. Now it looks like there's a newer version than mine?

Thanks a million for your help.
