Hi Folks,
Also, after creating our own RSS Feeds, i observed that it can be included in our own websites by a javascript client side include. Okay, I have created a version using PHP that you can actually download and install into your own web server (for those not wishing to relying on other automated scripts on other servers, which might be down, beyond our control). Introducing the BENRUTH INSTANT RSS/XML FEED READER! It's FREE for usage and download! Features-At-A-Glance ======================= - Use a client-side Javascript Script Include to retrieve RSS/XML News Feeds. - Change the News Feed Source via a Configuration script. Introducing the BENRUTH INSTANT RSS/XML FEED READER! (with simple tutorial ) http://benruth.com/subpage.php?PageID=35 Script Download http://www.benruth.com/free/instantfeedreader.zip Where it's working now http://benruth.com/subpage.php?topic=3 |

does anyone know of any other such scripts that are hosted on other sites or servers?
I've tried bens script and while it's far more than I could EVER develop myself, it limits a novice user such as myself to one feed for the site. I also noticed that the articles that are produced, the links that are generated, do not point to the locaiton of the actual article, but instead just point to the directory that the php file was uploaded to. |

Initially i was thinking of doing up an array which the user can add in as many feeds as needed.
Then, i decided to forgo that, as i wanted it to be as clean in design as possible. The workaround to this is very simple. /feed1/instantfeedreader.php /feed2/instantfeedreader.php /feed3/instantfeedreader.php .. and so on. you javascript include src should point to each location/directory But i think if this is need, i can add this in the next upgrade! not that difficult :-) By the way, can you point me to a location where the feed is not working as it should? It is working nicely in my site. http://www.benruth.com/subpage.php?topic=3 I am using the RSS 2.0 specifications for the reading process. Basically i am looking at the Item's LINK, TITLE and DESCRIPTION. Can you tell me what sort of feed you are using? :-) |

Hi Folks,
I just added this in too. :-) MULTIPLE News Feeds OPTION TWO : Leave $sFilename (in the configuration file) as "" to use the URL version example In config file $sFilename = ""; In the javascript <SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="http://benruth.com/instantfeedreader/instantfeedreader.php?feed=http://www.benruth.com/feed.xml"></ SCRIPT> The reasoning behind this is to prevent other people from supplying any feed in the url, if you only want specific news feeds to be read. So, either supply a filename in the config file, and ENSURE that it is the only feed that you serve OR, leave the filename blank in the config file, and allow possibly anyone to type in any feed url. So you just need one installation, and just supply in the news feed url. Hopefully it helps :-) |
