Default Microsoft in trouble... again, yup.

Read this

http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/sto...01&floc=NW_1-T

One of the biggest reasons that unix is the prefered hosting platform... its hard to hack, and any kid with microsoft office professional (wich comes with Visual C++) can write a script that will torture the windows enviroment.

Windows was never designed to "host", the idea that they make a better server is just a bit far fetched.

The worst thing... Microsoft knows about the holes in it's code when they release the software... and wait until someone cracks it open to send out the fix.

As someone who writes code for a living... this angers me... more than it should.

OK, rant over... sorry, just getting some thoughts off my chest.

I have to admit that I develop on Windows and deploy on Linux. I would never run a server on Windows. I'm too prone to stress.

But I still can't see the move to a Linux desktop. And the number one reason (there are others): I can't see what websites look like in IE.

yes... I took that out of the post... I felt after writing it that might be little to extremist and would deter people from posting... but I do love it... I only use that little windows machine for viewing a project for ie compatibility... but I still stand by my unix.

it just feels so right.

I am some that with you HardCoded but have moved almost compeletly to Linux. But I several machines 2 of them LAMP's as I write in php and keep 2 Wins for hardware support and to preview my pages.

I do not use my Wins on the Internet ever.

The above incendent proves that the best firewall out there is not good enough if you use M$ on the internet nor is the best virus protection if it is not up-to-date or if you catch it before the anti-virus comp's put out a patch.
