Default Target=new

Hi Guys...

I noticed the other day that when viewing a website via Win XP browser, the 'target="new"' code doesn't work. If I want a link to open up a new window, is there another code that XP can read?

The latest browser comes with a popup blocker. It could be that the popup blocker is blocking the target=_new links.

ajpaulus,
you could of course add to the html < a > tag target="_blank"

this will open in a new window...

so target=new and target=blank are essentially the same? will this work in XP and override the pop-up blockage?

No, they're different. target="_blank" (note the underscore, it's important) is a special target that will always open a different window. While with new or _new you are opening a window named "new" or "_new" that will be reused the next time someone clicks a similar link from the parent window.

This might help:

Never seen a blocker block windows opened this way...but hey what do I know.
