Default HTML Code Validating Software

I build pages by hand and as any human will do, I make some HTML coding errors. While what I load works fine in any browser, I am sure there are little glitches I miss that the spiders might not like.

I prefer to use a program that resides in my computer rather than a web based link that will check my site.

What do you use?

Does it offer the option to edit the page for you?

Spit it out! I'm listening...

I don't see where they let you edit directly from those programs...

Default a question ?

I just built this site with frontpage http://www.logoluggagetag.com/
I used traffic blazer that found several problem.
it said
(Please note that the HTML Checker flags any potentially problematic HTML element. Thus the warning(s) will not necessarily mean that the analyzed page is broken. In some cases the flagged problems may have very little impact on the displayed product. Still, it is recommended that you review each of the listed warnings.)This is getting a little over my head should I replace the code they reccomended or should I just leave it alone?
thanks for any help.
Jim

XMLSPY is certainly a great editor, but it's also expensive once you've finished your 30 day trial. ;o)

There is a free editor for XHTML here:
http://www.lessthanslash.info/

Features:
Auto tag complete
Live Preview
Syntax Highlighting
Validation tools
(choose either built-in HTML Tidy or online W3 validator)

The program is extremely lightweight and fast-loading. Highly recommended!

Hi,

I really don't need to do this…

I assume you want freeware, but among the best general editing tools is of course -- Dreamweaver.

CSS editing tools are not very good; you're better off using a dedicated tool.

Dreamweaver's split screen layout allows simultaneous editing in code/wysiwyg.

Also, the auto-dating function updates a last-saved date on the page as soon as you save the file. You've got to update any last-saved info in the Meta section, though.

Then, once the site is up and running you can use FunnelWeb (which is freeware) to analyze the log files. This lets you pick up problems after the site is live.

Cheers
