Facebook Chat Bar?

I'm a big facebooker, and was wanting to get your opinions about Facebook's new chat feature (the toolbar down at the bottom). Is this really an improvement? Or, is facebook going downhill with this new chat interface?

IMO, this is almost to the level of when facebook opened itself up to the public from being a college-based social network to a public one (yes, I've been on facebook that long). I'm really big into facebook, but this was just an "argh!" moment for me.

What are your thoughts on it?

I think facebook already hit the nail on the head with the original design and purpose. Anything added after 2005 is just a gimmick. How many of you have a great experience with Groups? How many actually use the chat on a regular basis? How many bother with the apps? Personally I only use it to add people I have met over the years and leave the occassional comment.
