Default How to make a new forum active?

Have been wondering how to make a new forum busy with active members? Any idea?

What I meant was sign-up under different user names and cause controversy. Controversy attracts people!

I just came across this topic thought I would add a comment or two - questions too.

I have a forum connected to one of my sites and one of the major problems I have had is spam/hacks. In fact my hosting company has shut the forum down at least three times now for being hacked. I have secured it as much as possible which tends to really block people who may just want to contribute without actually being a member. But it seems that is just not safe.

I think this is a great question. Not only how does one drive traffic to a forum, but quality traffic and keep the hackers out?

- hire moderators to work with you
- write e free ebook and ask people to comment in your forums
- write articles and submit them in articles directories and use your resources box to drive readers.
- build blog and did not give all the story just anounnce provoque the problem and ask people to give their opinions.
- ezine: is the best way to drive people and to announce new threads or articles publish
- ezine advertising can help
- spam is a reallity and you should work hard to maintain your forums without them.
