I have been marketing my website for about a month and have not gotten any sales. Over 1000 visitors have been and I can't figure it out.

Please browse around and tell me what you think. I offer a wide range of climbing gear.

http://www.nolimitclimbing.com

Thanks and I do reciprocal site reviews!

Tested in IE6 56k modem 800x600. Loads reasonably fast. Good bavigation. A nice design. The site has a Google PageRank of 0/10 so you need to get some more links to the site from other sites. 1000 hits in a month isn't nearly enough - you will need 10 times that to have any hope of getting sales. Good luck with it.

Thank you for your honest feedback. I do appreciate the review. Did you have a site you wanted me to review?

You have too much text on the front page. Too much bold text. Lose the blue headings. The pics are great. incorporate keywords you envision people using to get to your website throughout your key pages.

Your right nav looks like a banner ad, so it may be skimmed over by some visitors.

I would completely redesign the first page.
Put your featured products on the front center of your website. Only a small intro about your company. Remember, you are selling products on the web.

Your left nav should list all your major product categories and sub categories.
On your quick nav drop-down list, change your default from tell a friend to one of your product categories.

Take a look at your competitor's websites and see how they lay out their websites, figure out what makes them work, and what makes them fail.

The other thing you need to do: is getting more hits: start a link exchange with the big name rock climbing and outdoors magazines. Get your banners on some of the rock climbing forums and equipment review sites. Offer your customers a place to review great climbs... create your own little community. You are in a great niche market, so just try to start growing a small following and go from there.

Default I agree with Isis

The pictures are great, but the page is way too busy, too much scrolling on the first page and too much text that doesn't focus on your products.

I would create a rollover menu on top with a site map link to a back page site map and focus on products you know your niche market will want to see on your landing page. Soften the colors of your text and leave those great pictures in!

Link popularity and hits that generate sales will come from a good affiliate program and getting involved in your highly specialized (and a little insane) community and cross promoting with them.

First - I like your products! I spend too much at REI so I have you bookmarked for the future. :)

Critique:

I went to your page three times before I realized your categories were on the home page. With all of the content on the home page it is not apparent where you need to go. I kept clicking on your shop button....

The home page is a bit busy for my liking.

When you are on a product page there is no way to go back to the category page without hitting 'Back' in your browser. I would add a navigation trail above the products....

Other than that, I would just fine tune it a bit. Consolidate some of the content.

1. The pictures are cool but static. - you can animate it.
2. YOu are using two colors from the same color-family for your text (blue & green). - green would be enough. Nature's color.
3. One needs to scroll down to read. - i love to read without scrolling down.
4. I got distracted with the words all over the page. - is it possible to limit it to 50 words?

Fewer words will give you an enigmatic effect.

Hi

First impressions of the site is it loads fast and looks good. When the homepage appears, personally, I would like to see some more product images and/or links. Im not sure what the main focus of your site is, but from first looks I may think it was a climbing info site as appose to an e-shop. I think this is because it has a lot of text, and as I said, few product pictures.

Do you have site stats as to how long people stay on your landing page/site for? Its usually a good way of finding out where there may be a bottle neck.

Have you made any progress with orders yet? Have you tried any Cost per Click marketing? i.e. google adwords? We found it a highly effective way of driving some good (relevant) traffic to the site and generating some orders. If you were to do it, I would suggest many different adverts and having them link to specific product areas or products i.e carabiners.

You have lots of great products, Im sure a bit of site tweaking will bring those orders in.

If you get a chance check out our site www.skatewarehouse.co.uk, similar market (i.e. specialsed action sports)and see if you can get any ideas.

James

You need a good logo. That will help instill some confidence in your potential customers. People like dealing with companies that at least appear to be professional, etc.

There are lots of cheap logo makers out there if you can't design one yourself.

Cheers,
Jim
