Hi,
I've had my site for almost 10 years. I consider myself an amateur web designer and make most changes to the website. Some of the design (top, bottom and left) work has been done by a professional. Please let me know your input.

My website is www.surroundings.com

Posting your URL in your post would be a helpful thing. I looked at the link attatched to your profile but you should include it in the post.

Default Site Feedback

Nice Site - soothing colors, nice white space to rest my eyes. Easy to navigate, loads quickly. I only have a few things for you to consider -
the logo works well - the name could be larger maybe with a sweeping "s" as a visual echo of "surroundings"? Perhaps let the S begin at the top of the blue & the bottom curve of the s become part of the swirl around the flame?

"Welcome to Surroundings" - the next line is all about the company, so consider just "Floating Candle Centerpieces"

The description is not as strong as the visual - which is excellent (although I'd like a few more seconds to spend with each image). Maybe something like "At Surroundings we create the center of attraction for your special event. Surroundings floating candle centerpieces are perfect for:"
You might also add "intimate dinners" to your list; perhaps "Holiday Gatherings" instead of "parties" since that would bring in all the holidays. What do you think about adding "funerals" to your list? Another paragraph after the list - "Whatever the occasion, Surroundings can set the tone."

The last item of the list breaks form & seems a plea for business rather than a statement of what we offer.

Great navigation - one thought though under "Favors" - why do you begin each item with that word - no other categories have a tag word attached.

Try to keep your context in present tense - "Surroundings makes it easy..." Also look for excess words - see how many you can delete. Surfers speed read, don't tell them what is a logical conclusion. Some words are used so often in sales that they've lost their meaning. Rather than make suggestions word by word - I've just revised.

Surroundings has made it easy for you to decorate your event with the perfect floating candle centerpiece. We' ve put together a wide variety of high quality and unique floating candle centerpiece kits that are delivered to your venue and ready to go right out of the box - just add water . Our contemporary centerpieces come in a myriad of sizes, colors and shapes to suit most any theme and color scheme.

REVISION
Surroundings makes it easy for you to decorate. We offer a variety of unique floating candle centerpiece kits, ready to go right out of the box. All you add is water. We deliver too. You save time and money by purchasing a Surroundings floating candle centerpiece kit.

The next paragraph doesn't seem necessary - a kit usually provides everything necessary. If you keep this paragraph, there's a typo. "piece of mind" should be "peace of mind."

Save time and money by purchasing our ready-made kits. Because we provide everything you need, from the floating candle bowl and floating candles, to the decorative accessories, you don't have to run around looking for bits and pieces to decorate your tables. Planning your event is hard enough - save yourself the time and energy as well as piece of mind. Your tables will look great with your Surroundings centerpieces.

Beautiful site. If you are interested in marketing to the bereaved, check out Beyond Indigo (dot) com. Tell Kelly that Linda sent you. I think this would make a great addition to their online store.

I reviewed the site and a quick note to consider:

You site seems to have a flowy (sp) feel to it, which is really good. However, the slideshow you have on the first page is very rough and changes are harsh. Maybe create a script that makes the photos sorta fade in and out. This will be easier on the eyes.
