Hi,
Ok I am in the stages of developing an online art gallery and was hoping for some feedback from the wonderful guys and gals on webproworld. The site has been in development for a couple of weeks now and still has a fair amount of work to be done on it but I wanted to get some early feedback to guide me now rather than changing later. So here's the url Gallery Space - Home Over to you...please be as critical as you like, I have thick skin Thanks guys David |

It looks really good, good colors and good depth. Easy to gather what the site is about. For me (my eyes) I don't see the text easily. I see you matched text with bottom text box background color on sample images? I would find something, if not weightier, more contrasted. I don't know what other people see.
Cached reload was pretty instantaneous, first load was slower, no where close to - to slow. I have a pretty speedy connection though. I guess you know how to compress images and you're aware of server needs when you act as host for a gallery. It's a good domain name. Nothing stands out as "bad". Don't know why someone would put pictures there - maybe you could say why - more emphatically. Why here, why you...? Easy uploading, guaranteed up time, wide exposure due to...Price is better than.... |

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Spelling errors are now fixed, opps I take your point about the contrast of the text, and will certainly darken it up a bit to make it more ledgible. dgswilson, your right the hardest part is going to be convincing people to actually use the site. Hopefully though running it as a free site for a while will generate a decent amount of content with it becoming a paid service later down the line. I think if I can get the visitor numbers up to a respectible level then this should encourage people to submit and display their work. Again thanks for the comments and I look forward to receiving more. Thanks David |

Thanks for the comments guys.
Sokolenko: The pics are from an artist friend of mine who is acting as a guinea pig for testing. Can you elaborate a little on how you feel it is too simple? Do you mean in design or functionality? Melissa: Yeah I agree the logo is a work in progress at the moment, I'm not particularly happy with it either but I think it's more than just the reflection that is wrong. It's not nearly strong enough, and needs more work. Last edited by DavidB29; 08-20-2009 at 05:54 AM. |

Amazing site. Really like it (going to use it for some of my works too).
I noticed you had some test-colors in the style-sheet still left (areas showed ugly green backgrounds before the images loaded). What is a bit of a turnoff is that you put the "Free for a limited time only" right in my face. Now, I don't know what the business idea behind it is, but I personally rather see scalable accounts (free, a bit less free, not free) - anyway, it's confusing. Until I click the one of the links that gives me more information - but then I might already have left. |

Thanks Ladana, you're more than welcome to set up an account. I'm looking into the test colours, I've obviously missed a couple when tidying up.
I agree about the 'free' text actually and will change this to a tiered payment. Thanks David |

Good luck with your site!
Just wanted to comment that when I load each page, I'm getting a couple of seconds worth of the 'create your account' black screen. Looks horrible, not sure if this is intentional or not. I'm using OSX 10.5.8 Safari 4.0.3 - flashes on loading for a few seconds IE 5.2 - sits there permanently, each page Firefox 3.52 - seems fine Opera 9.64 - seems fine Hope this is helpful. |

Thanks for the help it's all very usefull.
Ok after much deliberation I have bowed to the majority and have removed the reflection from the logo and made it a little bigger Neroli with regards to your comment about the black screen, it is not intentional and only seem to happen on some browsers. It is caused I believe due to the initial rendering of the collapsible panel. To be honest I have no idea why it is doing this and if anyone has any ideas as to the cause and the fix then please let me know. Thanks David |
