Red face Please Reivew my new personal blog design

I just changed the theme on my personal blog and a friend said it was too 'red'. I have tweaked the theme a lot and eliminated some of the red colors. I'm a little concerned about load times. Any honest feedback would be appreciated.

viewed with Firefox

1. Your marketing link on your top nav bar 'pops' behind your scrolling image.
2. In your footer. "has blocked 591 access attempts in the last 7 day" can not be seen as it is black text on a black background.
3. To me your front page looks cluttered and contains to much info.
4. Your copyright needs changed
5. Turn off directory indexing as seen at briandhawkins.com/images/ "and others" You may also want to install the plug-in secure wordpress or do what it does yourself.

To be honest I left your site thinking. "what is the site about?" You cover many topics from blog tips to marketing to where to find a sale. I would personally try to gear the site to 1 or two main topics and leave the rest.

As far as load times.. Loaded just fine here.

Thank you, that's exactly what I'm looking for. It is appreciated, especially the tip on security. I'll get right to work on it as well as the other comments. Thank you.

I like that type of style. Plenty to look at. . It might just be because I am over 60 I find the changing images a little annoying - especially to have it change to the image I saw before.

I think if you distract visitors with revolving large images. . you should at minimum show them something new. It give me the feeling you only had room for one image. . decided to put them both in the same plot.

overall I liked it. . No content that suited me. . But I accept I am hardly your target audience.

Thanks Tubby, I appreciate your review. I'm 44 and I'm not a big fan of big flashy images either. As far as the target audience I really don't have one. It's just a personal blog with my crazy opinions. I planned to work on the security today thanks to the advice of Amxfan but then another blog of mine got hacked. How's that for coincidence? Unbelievable. It took all day to get that mess cleaned up but I guess it could have been worse. Amxfan's advice seems even more important now.

I wasn't going to comment as a couple of days have gone by since you posted. The blog content is all over the place chronologically. That is not necessarily a bad thing but it is unusual. I did find a page where your comments appear in order by date but you have so many places to go, one loses track. What I liked is that I found some very interesting entries (Big Bear Lake, for instance -- my wife and I were there in June 2007 for a couple of nights; and your views on religion) that I probably would not have found in the standard chronological blog. Keep it up. I find it generally good. Tubby is correct about setting a target -- but that might not be right for you. Like most blogs out "there," this is the place to put your personal thoughts. If someone else likes to read it, good. If not, no loss.

Smile Re: Please Reivew my new personal blog design

Thank for the review jxw, I do appreciate it. Thanks for mentioning the chronological post order, I hadn't noticed that. I have added monthly archives to correct that.

As far as target I think I'm going to guide it as more my opinion and resist business and blogging posts. I have other blogs for that.

Thank you, Brian
