I started this site to showcase my art. I got carried away with the idea of making it a piece of art itself (always a iffy but fascinating thing to do.)

The current effort is Google page rank, mostly for fun, but also to get experience for a commercial site I maintain. Nothing happens on the commercial site, until it works well for larrysart.

Any input will help, but please talk also about the aesthetics. Constructive comments are welcome.

Thanks
Larry Weiss

Hi,

First of all your painting look very interesting. When I have more free time I would definitely return to look at them. Very nice work.

design wise there were a few minor things I would personally change. I did not like the fact that every new page opened a new window in my browser. I can do this if I want to. I do not mind it once and a while but I found it excessive on your site. I also thought that the pages were too long. For example on the home page the sitemap and gallery index could be seperate pages that could be linked from the left nav bar. There layout was fine I just did not see the need to make the first page one long page. Ditto with the Wordsworth peom - nice touch but give it a section or a page. The great thing about the web if you can have as many pages as you want and not waste paper. I don't mind scrolling if I need to but when the subject matter is able to be seperated I persoanlly do not think it has to go one the same page.

Also you are obviously a very talented artist. How about a nice large logo. If you don't work in the digital medium maybe you could find a way to paint one then photograph it. Anyway you know better than me as an artist. I think it is very important to make that first statement with your logo. This is something I am really struggling with - but I think you could really shine here. Anyway I hope these comments were constructive.

Hi,
My first impressions are/were:

- nice feel
- professional feel
- great art

The only thing that I thought was confusing on first impression was that the left hand menu options changed from one page to the other... and it was confusing to me what was happening at first.

If you had the sub-menus separate somehow.. maybe underneath or have the main navigation in a different area.. I think keeping it consistent across the pages would add a lot to the navigation and user experience.
