This is the forum for you. When submitting your site, be sure to discuss what aspect you are looking for input on. Just posting a link with the word 'review' isn't appropriate. |

Am interested in comments on my site http://www.myhistories.com . Visits are building, but need to convert more visiters to buyers (isn't that the problem de jour for most of us).
Thanks in advance. ________________ Ron Fuller antiquum acerro decus http://www.myhistories.com |

One... make your catalog more accessible and escapeable.
I didn't realize you had a catalog or items for sale, until I read your post a second time. Once I found the catalog and wandered through your items, I "guessed" on how to get back to your homepage. Even then I didn't end up at your HOME page. Not sure where I ended up, I just know it wasn't were I began. I'm lost!!!!!! Oh, sorry, I panicked ;) The colors, the layout (except the navigation) are all nice. The warm tones are inviting, relaxing and fit well with the purpose of your site. But.... ...fill in the blanks! I didn't know what your site was when I first got there... not everyone will be able to read your post twice to realize that you do sell items.... and not everyone will be able to find the catalog. Take your viewers by the hand, show them where to go, and what they should do when they get there.

Thanks for the review. Sometimes when you are the builder, it appears clearly what the navigation and options are. Guess I need to step back and regroup.
Thanks again. ____________ Ron |

Hi,
Firstly I really loved you graphics and home page layout. I loved the color the globe everything. Really made me want to learn more. But as stated in other post I did get a bit lost once I looked at the catalog. I think it would help it there was a site map link on the home page and maybe other pages as well. Also I would try to consolidate some links. I found the number of links and sub links a bit overwhelming. Maybe have the catalog link on the left nav bar then have that break down - still in the left nav bar like a sub-tree menu with product categories. I think that might help. In any case it is clear that you put a lot of effort into your business and it shows by a polished professional look. I think if you can iron out the navigation issues you have got yourself a winning website. I really liked visiting your page.

I only read the first sentence of the previous poster, but that was exactly my thought too.
My first impression was - what a great site, but it didn't give me the message that there was anything for sale. My first thought was that it provided a lot of interesting information. I could see a lot of people being interested for that reason, as opposed to the items your selling. The main things I noticed on first impression: - I didn't know there was anything for sale - I think I'd be much more likely to buy something if I could see a full item list(s) within one link from the main page - or even saw a variety of hilighted items for sale on the first page.. I think that would go well. - The view your family coat of arms is very interesting, why not put it on the front page, or put the form itself where the current link is rather than a link one level deeper. It's a catchy site with a lot of interesting things - I think if you made it easier for impatient users you would draw them in... -- Tom |
