Thought I would showcase these amazing animals while there are still some left and teach myself .net at the same time. It's sitting on a server here in South Africa and I am worried about load time. Any comments would be welcome. Thank you.

Make the top menu a pull-down menu and scrap the menus on the left.
It will make maintenance easier.
Then, use the left-hand area for content.

Got no problem with how your template choice look as it fits your site.. But when i check those vitals factors for on-page optimization. What I noticed are:

- page tile - "whale" - I would suggest you to be specific with it. Try to make it 5-8 words title.
- meta keywords - none; it's important if you care how SE bots would see and understand your site/webpages.
- meta descriptions - none; if you use google to search for things, then you must have read a description of a link before you decided to click. It should be 2-3 sentences. Think of it as your short ad promotion.

Loading time is horrendous. I've been waiting for ages now and I don't see anything yet. You should go for another hoster.

Krugerrand, I have been working on it and you could have caught it during a upload, could you please check agian, Thank You.

Load time was pretty significant on my end as well. And I'm on DSL.
I think it may have something to do with your flash header loading.
Your images are adequately compressed. So I think it's the flash.

Also, think about using an external .js for your javascript and calling it in with this tag in your header:

<script type="text/javascript" src="FILENAME.js"></script>

put file in same folder as html page or in folder named "js" incase you find other scripts for the site such as a jquery or mootools script to emulate the flash header (or something close)

The site loaded quickly for me. I'm on a cable modem. Overall, as far as appearance and content, I liked the site.

Load time was quite bad for me, I probably would have given up if I hadn't been forewarned about it. Other than that, I really liked the site, thought it gelled together well, looks premium, thought there was loads of interesting content, and the pics look very good quality.

Well same here expect the fact it didn't load so fast for me...

It's better now. I'm clicking from Germany but load time is ok now.
