Default Requesting review for http://www.jsplace.biz

Hello everyone

here I am again and I completed a website for yet another client and he wants to know what others think of his site.

He wants to change the images for his name but needs design ideas and I am making him some samples that I will soon show everyone here but flash takes time to do (I'm new at working with flash)

I see some minor problems that will be taken care of soon on the site but since I am so used to seeing the site I may be missing some so I am asking for help in finding the other problems.

here is the site http://www.jsplace.biz

thanks for the help.

Peace

Default sorry

I am sorry to have to be harsh, but the web design is not very good, to say the least. It looks like it has been done by the owners son, who likes computer games, or somethings, not a professional designer. If you have problems that you would like me to help you with, I would be more than happy to assist you to improve.

Regards
Thom of TJDesigns.

I have to agree with Thom... it looks like an amatuerish site... too mancy photos of patrons...do you need any at all? or has client said he wants them there?
get rid of the music... it is very irritating...
your link back to the home page is on the bottom of each page, and a visitor needs to scroll.

Your home page should have more content about the restuarant... but of course, who would read it with all that music?
get rid of the gifs... and the scrolling marquee

Sorry, but I'm sure you can do a lot better than that site.

I did what the owner wanted and how he wanted it laid out and used his ideas.

He wanted all those pics of his patrons to show everyone how popular his business is since his grand opening 6 months ago.

he wanted the music on the site cause he is cuban and wanted everyone to know that his restuarant is a cuban restuarant and that he plays the music in the place all day long everyday.

He wanted the site to be of a cuban feel so thats what I did (I have no knowledge of the cuban scene but I did search the net for cuban sites and they all look closly like that).

I offered to do the site using my ideas but he insisted to have it done this way and doesn't want to change, I will forward your advice to him and see if he wants to use my ideas and hopefully he will consider.

please if you have anymore opinions about the site please post them, hopefully he will break down and let me use my ideas for the site.

Sorry for laughing, but hoping that a client will break down isnt eactly sound business practice. There is much you could to improve the site and still keep to the client's specifications, make the background more consistent, it seems like a badly pieced together jigsaw at the moment. Thats just one example of what could be done. If i were you, I would do a seperate design using your ideas and wow the client with it, then perhaps he will decide to use your design and either way you will have an excellent piece for your portfolio.
