Hi everyone !
Please review mycoloredlinks.com. Should I change the black background or not ? Some people say I should but this is the only color wich makes the colors of the links more pronounced. What do you think ? |

If a human check can verify that "color has no meaning" then there is nothing outwardly wrong with the color scheme the way it is. Existing wisdom relating to black or dark colored backgrounds would suggest there may be pitfalls waiting to be discovered. That's for another day.
Whether your site is marketable, or not, is another question ...for another day. Experience will be your teacher, I'm sure. Off topic: In a sea of emerging directories, most of them scrapings from yellow pages and other sites, will yours rise above the mist and take a position in the heavens? If color makes it work, then everyone else will follow, soon enough. The law of diffusion will dilute the marketplace. Will your directory be the one that's still standing, head above the crowd? What makes your site so different that everyone will want to bookmark it? Or routinely use it? (We all know that most bookmarks are never clicked, but get forgotten in the next moment.) What does your directory offer as added value to those sites that list themselves in it? PR? on a page of random links? If we build a site tomorrow and have no OBLs and no IBLs, just a domain, will not our site still be discovered by the search engines? Why do we NEED your directory? If we search G, Y, M, W and a range of dedicated SEs such as libraries, museums and universities already, and get most of what we search for, why do we need your directory? |

Personally I hate sites with black backgrounds and loud colors. I exit quickly. I dislike flashing spinning bouncing objects as well.

I have not seen a rainbow of colors since I attended the "wrong parade" OMG!
But, you know what.. it's rather unique and this will appeal to many people but not all people IMHO.

This about sums it up. What has this site offered that is not 'very 90s' and that has not been done before? I ask. What makes this directory so desirable besides the color gimmick?

your site too color full just like a rainbow.
Yes you are right that black makes it prominent but white or something light in color should be used as background.
