The site looks good once all of the graphics load. 48.62 seconds according to Site Report Card.com. It was very distracting watching them all popping into place.

Also, the testimonial link failed.

One other thing, which may or may not be intentional, but the top nav doesn’t seem to quite fit the curvature of the space it is sitting in. As if it is either down too low or that the bottom, outside corners of the first and last link should be rounded. It may be as simple as just changing the white line across the bottom to black to help blend it in.

Overall it looks good, nice neat and clear.

Thank you Clicken,
The load time is my main concern.
They asked me for advice, so I posted here to get more input.
Many sets of eyes beats just mine any day.
I myself prefer the old site, but they seemed to not.
I will suggest they remove the testimonial link until they have some to post.
It appears they built it using a Dreamweaver or other wysiwyg editor and the slices are sort of hard to change.
Maybe they can go back and have the designer take a look?

Great changes you've got there! Not a fan of red myself but I admire the shade used.

Nice layout too. But yes loading time seemed to be an issue. Downscaling the images would ruined the quality of images but that's the way to go.

It would be much less distracting to watch the graphics load if they weren't cut into so many slices. Also, your site would rank better in the search engines if you weren't hiding so many rich keywords in the graphics, these should be text.

I think the myriad slices approach is insane.

Not necessary.
Annoying to watch it load.
Will make maintenance a nightmare.
Many words that should be TEXT are images. Google can not "read" images. This approach will weaken SEO efforts.

The look is OK, but the coding needs to be completely redone.

Okay, thanks all, sounds pretty unanimous on the load and use of images. They have the same concern with so much red being used. I also noticed each page has the same title. I'll also suggest they address that issue.

As for the coding I've never been a fan of wysiwyg editors, too much gobbly goop. I looked into the source, very scary, way too much work to strip it clean. It would take a fraction of the time to start it over from scratch.

The whole page is almost just an image. That is insane. Look at the code: <div class="supc-1-1"><img alt="" src="images/sup3_01.jpg" width="808" height="19"></div>

I have.
The old one looks dated. I don't care for it.

The new one is much better.
I would:
1. Tone down the hotness of the red slightly. For example, compare #FF0000 and #CC0033 and see which one is easier on your eyes.
2. Re-code it completely.
3. Start with SEO in mind from the very beginning. Your client needs to understand, if they do not already, that the printed Yellow Pages are dead and that new customers are using Google (and a little bit of Yahoo) to find plumbers.

The new site looks good, but the feels a bit content light to me.

There's a typo on the home page "Our friendly, courteous plumber make it a pleasure to do business with us." Think it should be plumberS.

The services page on the old version had more info than the new one.

And the load times on the new site, as has been said before, are waaaay too slow!
