Default Review Voxx.co.za

I am a average web developer that desided to design his own little website.

The goal of the website is basicly to have a one on one with clients that are going to design a website in the near future.

Working with clients and other developers on a day-to-day basis I have to answer allot of questions. So, I desided to put all these questions on a website and maybe I will have more time for other things during the day.

Downloads and Portfolio is my lame attempt to get a higher paying job. I think this might still take a long time... so I will have to walk to work a few more years.

Thank you for checking my website...

I like the overall layout of the site (the main content sections and the colors)

However.. I think that the background stands out more than the content.. it should be lightened up a bit so that your content stands out more.

I understand English may not be your main language, but you might want to run some things through a word processor to check for typos etc.

IE:
http://myweb.absa.co.za/gschoonbee/voxx/tips/index.html

You have the word Clients spelled Cleints. Now that might be bypassed and not look so bad if it weren't a main menu item.

There are other erros and typos throughout the site.

Your menu should be set for the site.. I noticed the client thing but when I tried to figure out exactly how I had gotten that menu in the first place.. I couldn't find it.

On your portfolio, you have a Portfolio index listing all of your links, however when clicking on any of them.. they take me nowhere.

Now after going through it the second time.. I noticed that the top menu had changed and was able to navigate that way.. again with the menu.. it should be the same throughout the site so users know how to get where they are going.. especially in a site that is supposed to give tips on good web design etc.

Maybe also links on the bottom that go everywhere or show a site map?

Another thing I noticed is that the article/section on Ergonomics is the "main" theme for every section. When I visit a site, I don't want to see the same content on each page.. I already saw it on the first one.

Content opens in pop-ups.. pop-up killers might be killing your content so viewers don't see it.

It seems that you are sending users to outside sites for everything, perhaps a small list of tips etc. and then links to sites where they can find out more or research more would be beneficial but putting your own spin on things?

I like the colors of your main content section, the greens are very easy on the eyes and your logo coordinates very well and is very unique!

Default Constructive criticism

Thank you for the thorough overview of the site.

I also saw the navigation problem when I was half way trough the website design, but I had no time to correct it. Now that the site is on the net and the information is at least available to some degree I will correct the navigation problem.

I was hoping that the breadcrumb would help, didn't you notice that?

Thank you for pointing out the link problem in my portfolio. This is one of the main reasons why the site exists.

As you say, my spelling is not the best, I run it through Dreamweaver's spelling checker, maybe it just missed that somehow.

Thank you for the compliment on the layout. At least the site has some visual appeal. :)

Default Review Voxx

Hi Gideon i do like your site it is bright and clean looking. Some of your links did not work and there is still a spelling mistake
Have you ever herd of ergonomics? The word Herd should be spelt as Heard
Apart from this everything else seems fine
Good Luck with your site

Gideon,
your site is visually attractive...
I will repeat what was said before... you must check your spelling... the word you use "shore" should be "sure"
Also, I think that the links to your other pages should be on the graphic and not the entire paragraph.. or at least on just a few words of that paragraph.

Good luck!

Default Lets try again..

After looking at all the reviews that I got, i desided to try again. There are still allot of mistakes on the site that I am also aware of... getting time to do personal stuff that is professional is just not happening for me at the moment.

My spelling is a bit grade 1. The thing is that I do run spelling checks on the site... and it just seems to miss them. I will have to go through everything manually.

I will get better hosting space soon, which means I can use 3rd party scripts to sort out some of the chores on the site. This will give me more time to worry about smaller details.

Thank you to everyone that posted a message so far... please don't stop. Some of your websites look really amazing.

Do not rely on the spell check that much... it only finds words that were mis-spelled... the word "shore" is a valid word and therefore, the spell check would not pick that up... you must be sure of the spelling yourself, or get someone to help you proof your site.

Good luck
