Hi all
This is my first appearance in here, and would love to hear comments - good or bad - about my site. I am not a pro designer, and get lots of good comments from users - around 2500 per day - but have never asked people like you old hands to give me a going over.
take care
and thanks in advance

Okay.. I am no pro either but on first glance this is what I noticed..

When going through the menu.. some of the pages the links from the menu open in a new window (really annoying if you are trying to stay on one site and don't want to have to close oodles) and on others this is not true.

Some of the pages that have it set to open in a new window are

Tree_surgeons.htm
about%20plants.htm
about_landscape_gardening.htm
links.htm
advertising.htm
magazine.htm

On several of the pages the menu is not aligned the same (ie on some it is a bit away from the left side and on others it is flush)

On the jigsaw_puzzles_main_page.htm there is no menu.

Something that might help with this is to use server side includes(or even front page templating since that is what was used) to keep the flow the same and only have one header file, one menu file etc. to change instead of individual pages.

I also noticed that your html pages have spaces in them (thus giving them url's like about%20plants.htm)

Always a good rule of thumb to remove spaces from html file names before uploading them. If you like the separation.. try using an underscore _ instead.

Seems to me it could use a little color or something to make it stand out but on the other hand it is not overly annoying:)

On the plus side.. it seems to resize properly and rather well when viewing it with various monitor resolutions and font sizes!

If you are looking for advice on Search Engine Optimization.. there are lots of good tips throughout this forum.. but I did notice that you do not have any relevant metatags, alt tags and the like to help with that.

I am sure that others will have more to offer.. but like I said that is my impression at first glance.

Default Site ed response

Thanks for that - some of your comment I don't understand (That's me not you!) like for instance the alt tags, but will certainly act on the open windows caper. Also look up the technical parts I don't understand.
Meta tag "KEYWORDS" I never use, and it doesn't seem to affect my normal top three positions for most of my keywords.

alt tags can be place on images etc. to give more relevance to your keywords etc.

IE.. see my site

http://www.designalcove.com and mouse over any of the images. That will show you the alt tags.

As far as anything else you don't understand.. please do not hesitate to ask for clarification.. I would be happy to help in any way that I can!!
