Hi all,
I want to make a directory with less but quality links. Also I donot need to add all possible category during the first installation. I have added around 60 categories, rest I am expecting suggestion from the visitors. >>URL : http://www.hedir.com/ >>The site is under-construction >> We donot have incomig links >> Will SEO help here? >> How to get a high PR? as it empowers a directory >> Targetted customers, we want to deliever the best resource to the people, not the best site. A site with black background and white text without any graphics but with a lot information, will be added. We are ready to bend a little for quality sites. Also the websites will get a good traffic out of it, we are adding the screen shots of the front pages. Slowly we will implement some ranking algos too. >> My main concern is whether the categories are well placed(hierarchy wise). Any suggestion is welcome and will be highly appreciated, as our goal is the perfectness. Thanks Ajigrmtech

Links and categories seem to be placed just fine..just need some more links:)
As for the actual site.. the site itself looks so very much like the Linker theme that comes with the program. I think it would look so much nicer with a unique theme and colors to go with it! I would also create your own custom "no image" image:) |

Welcome to WPW.
The site layout is fine. The design is simple, and fast loading which is exactly what you want. My only current suggestion would be to rethink you image for the listings. While this is a good idea and something other directories don't do, (with the knowledge page for example) three listings fills the page. If you have 24 listings in one sub-category that would be 8 pages to either scroll or click through just for 24 links. That may be a deterrent to your users if your directory gets too big. The other concern is your question about SEO. Most directories will not list other directories as they are direct competition and would have an adverse effect on revenue. So I wouldn’t worry about dealing with SEO. You will need to market other ways, like return links from sites you list and offline marketing. Best of luck.

I think your site looks very neat and clean.
One problem I have seen with ALL directories is that there are so many subcategories that it is almost impossbile to find certain headings. Why not add a small window opener with hover that very simply lists the first level sub-categories without having to change the page. I find that I can almost always tell after looking at the first level if I'm in the right place or not. Of course, one can use the search button, but this doesn't always work, especially if, as may be in your case, the category doesn't even exist. http://www.layabrick.com |
