Smile Please Review My website - The-Savvy-Woman

I would appreciate it if the forum members would review my web site.
The site url is the-savvy-Woman DotCom

It is a simple liquid, CSS based design. It is meant to be easy to navigate and read (I hope). I would greatly appreciate your input. P.S. I am not a webdesigner by trade...

BTW, I did perform the tests that were suggested at the beginning of the forum, the results are listed below:

I think the menu looks out of place being located at the top of the page above the branding bar. I also think you have too much information on your home page. It goes on and on...

Thumbs up Re: Please Review My website - The-Savvy-Woman

Thanks for repying... With the menu above the branding, I was trying to capture a diffrent look. Initially we had it lower, but we felt it was too close to the side nav. But we will revisit the positioning.

We actually had two colums after the welcome box, but changed it. We will spend sometime looking at how we might lessen the amount of scroll-down...

Once again thanks for your help...

Thumbs up Re: Please Review My website - The-Savvy-Woman.com

I decided to trim the "More Articles" from the Home Page... We kind of like the top nav and will probably stick with it. Thanks for your help...

Hi. I'm new here, but if anything I could say would help you, I'd love to do that. So, these are just my opinion....

First, I love the warm colors in the image on the home page - green, orange, purple; and you pick up the bright green in the footer. To me, the cool grey for the background that shows on either side of the page looks too cold and drab. I would consider warming it up - maybe a paler version of one of those 3 colors from the image. Also, to me the use of red for your sub-headings looked a little off-kilter - like it didn't fit your color scheme.

Second, I have to say that I totally missed your primary navigation up there above your header. My eye went from your logo, to the rotating picture on the right, to the "All Things Women" box.

Third, I'm using a monitor that is wider. Your page width expanded to fit that, and along with that, the rotating picture in your header floated right. Which leaves a wide space to the right in your content that looks empty - like the site is not finished and you'll be putting another column of information there. Given the pros and cons of why you're doing what you're doing with the design, this may be an acceptable con, but I thought I'd just mention it.

good luck!

first impressions:

1. i like the color scheme
2. the imagery is good
3. I would move the top nav bar into the left side nav bar OR incorporate it into just below the header.
4. I would change the top margin to 0 to move the header to the very top of the page.
5. I'd add a SLOGAN to the header/site name -- seems like a lot of under utilized space.
6. i'd move the search thing to the top right (so it can be seen early on).

it seems to me this is a kind of blog site geared toward woman? how do you keep women (or anyone) coming back? is there a news feed or a membership ?
