Default IdentityTruth.com re-design

Hi all!

My company <http://www.identitytruth.com> has had a web presence for about 2 years. We are an identity theft prevention/protection company. We offer our customers an online dashboard to manage every aspect of their identity to help them be pro-active in preventing identity theft.

We've split our site into 2 areas, a marketing side and the application side. Our original website was very monotone and business oriented. I've been pushing to be more consumer oriented and user friendly. I finally got my wish about 3 months ago. After many meetings and design discussions we started planning the new site. We're doing it in phases, and we just launched the re-design of the marketing side yesterday.

I'd like to get fresh and honest opinions from people who haven't seen the old site. What better place than here? I'm looking for feedback on the design, but also the user experience, and seo. Of course we think we did a pretty good job, but it can only help to have the experts here take a look at it, maybe pull it through the ringer.... Your thoughts and comments are much appreciated.

Aesthetically, top notch. Going with the blues is definitely a good choice.

On the front page, the tabbed info box is not doing it for me. It is not readily apparent that you can click on the tabs. Possible improvements could include rounding the edges on the left sides of the tabs, and highlighting the active tab a little more than just the arrow icon changing color. Perhaps low-lighting the inactive-tabs as well.

If it weren't for Brian Williams mug in the News section, I would have not noticed that it was News and there was other news next to it. Perhaps 'box' this up to combine the two more aesthetically. This will give more separation between the news and the free pdf next to it making it stand out more.

While on the subject of the free pdf. It is apparant that you want to collect email addresses. Probably a priority? Put a 'badge' on it, one of those glossy round star thingies. Announce to the world it is a FREE consumer report.

Inner pages such as Services. The font coloring of heading/text is mono-tone, bland, flat in the main content heading.

One thing that should be on every page, highly visible and above the fold is your Customer Service 1-800 number. Having that number visible gives the visitor the impression that 1) you are more legitimate and 2) you actually have customer service. Both are comfort factors in my opinion, plus some people may actually pick up the phone to call.

Enrolment page -- goes to a secure server. Just one thing, how to get back to the main site without clicking your back button?

Finally, on the Identity Theft page. The image of the girl and baby. Obvious composite image, but it bugs me to look at it. Maybe it is the neckline and baby clothing being too white, but it makes it look like the girls head was pasted off-center and weirdly. It could be me though.

Thanks for the great feedback Ronnie. Every point you make is well taken.

We're going to be modifying the tabbed info box in the future. It should work in a similar way, but I agree that it should be more apparent that it is clickable.

The phone number is actually tucked away in the login drop down, but again having it out there on every page is a great point.
