Hi Everyone,
I finally got around to doing my own site after several month of not being able to breathe from doing client sites. Would you all care to take a look and give me some feedback? Studio Interactive . net - Web and Graphic Design - Orange County California I still plan to add a blog and some more information on the resources page but the overall design is there. I think one thing I want to do is in the Portfolio Section is to set it up similar to the way this guy has his... Shane Seminole Mielke - Personal Portfolio Thanks in advance for your time!!! Hey,
I totally agree with the comment on the logo. I just grabbed an old logo I had lying around... I'll make sure to update it to something a little more catchy. Far as a number goes... I only have a cell phone, so thats a no go for now. For the Design Services, There's a theme on each page that kinda just lets the user know whats on the page.. Did you not see the nav links at the top? Thanks for the feekback.. keep em coming.

I'd agree with the potential for "Design Services" being considered as potential navigation. Antialiasing will help smooth the roughness of that text either way. Slicing the banner afterwards and optimizing it down from 289kb would be useful.
inumbr.com is down for closed beta, but for about $6/month I tried Vumber.com and found it to work as advertised - has a 30-day trial, and you'll find it lets you make and take phone calls from a number (of their selection, but local at least) that forwards to say, your cell.

I like the look of the site, but I looked at the source code and noticed that you have formatting in the code that should be put in an external style sheet.
Also, you have a table on your site. I would re-write the code of the table so that it is built with css or lose the table altogether. I think bots have trouble crawling a site with tables and I prefer not to use them at all. |

Hey SRBlogger,
Yes the site has tables. It's gonna stay that way too I will be putting all of the CSS into an external style sheet. Chiron, I will definitely cut that image up into halves. I'll also anti alias that text.. forgot to check that before I put it up. Keep the feedback coming... Thanks again for the help so far.

Also to be honest. On your contact us page. I did not see your: Contact Name, Address, Phone Number, Email address. So why should I give you mine? Your home button links to .net/index.php where going by the link in your post it should goto .net/. I did not see a about us page. The image under Feathered work to me did not fit and looked out of place. Also the image on the right in that image looked cut as only the SE in what ever word was there is showing. I'm still trying to figure out what a fence/door and a house has to do with web design or graphics.... You may want to add titles to your text links. Directory indexing is not disable. You need to fix this. I did not find a sitemap.xml or robots.txt You may want to add a custom 404 page or 301 the 404's back to the main page All your pages have the same title. This should be changed. Code: 1. Remove the styles and put them in a .css file. 2. Add a meta keywords and description tag. Yahoo and MSN still use them I believe 3. I did not see the use of header tags. You may want to reconsider this. Thoughts. all though I like the header image I think it maybe a little big and uses alot of the above the fold area. |

The site has a few errors that should be corrected: [Invalid] Markup Validation of http://www.studiointeractive.net/ - W3C Markup Validator

I know you don't agree with my opinion about tables, so I included links to a couple of great threads about page structure:
SEO, Where Do I Begin? Tables and SEO - SEO Chat Good luck. |

Sr Blogger,
Thanks for that!!!! You pointed out something I forgot I did. For some reason Dreamweaver adds a <TH> Tag instead of TD tags.. and I did a find and replace on my origional template to get rid of those. I'll be fixing that asap for sure. Saw that in the markup link you sent. So over all the things I need to think about.. are using CSS instead of Tables. Rethink the sections in the image.. Making sure I fix the meta info and such as mentioned by AmxFan. P.S. AmxFan... the image under featured site is a design i did for a client. The one with the door. If there's anything else you all can think of.. feel free to let me know. John Paul

Would it be better to make a redirect index page? or do I need to make an HTACCESS file? i'm looking around the control panel for it and I don't know what that's called in there...

well for a quick fix is to put a blank index.html in that folder. Your server sould have a setting in Cpanel or Vdeck to turn off directory listings as well
Lastly You have a canonicalization issue as well I did not pick out at first. If your using Cpanel then this may help you find it. here In my Cpanel it is in "Advanced" "index manager" I set the root to no indexing Last edited by amxfan; 08-06-2008 at 03:50 PM. |
