Thumbs up 2CV Directory: just when you thought directories were dead ...

Hi everybody

I finished this new combination of two of my passions: playing with a new website and the greatest ever small car built: 2CV directory

Curious what you think and any comments you might have.
This should be a very useful directory for 2CV people, and most likely completely useless for the rest of you .

For these people who do not know what a 2CV is:

A 2CV is the greatest small car ever, built by Citroen from 1948 to 1990.
This car, if not taken out of production, would have been the solution to the petrol (some people call it gas - don't know why: doesn't look like a gas to me, unless you keep looking for a long time I guess) and water crisis worldwide: the car has only 2 cylinders (0.6 litre) and is air-cooled.

A bit of history on the car here.

I think you should make space on the homepage for great photos.
One at a time.
Change them weekly.

Nice site.

I think it looks like a older VW bug

I have always been a muscle car fan myself "mainly the AMC amx" as you can tell by my nick.

I would add a place for your members / Visitors to upload images of the ones they own or have tricked out or hoped up. I know someone somewhere had to drop a V8 in one of these or at least a dual turbo with spray.

Other then that the site has good info and the navigation is easy to follow.

I'm not sure what is up with this though

Question
Since it has been remove from production parts and services will become a issue. You may want to add a place for this on your site. Also if possible have wiring schematics and other "how to" things to help your site become a one stop source for info.

Gas is short for gasoline, the way petrol is short for petroleum.

It's a very cool looking car, I'd drive it.

Like that idea a lot, guys. I am thinking of inviting submissions of photos by other 2CV freaks, and start a gallery. Nice one!

That's to stop people just snooping for photos, like some people do .
Instead of going in to cPanel and turning off directory browsing, I just drop in an index file.

Spare parts are not a problem; they are now made by independents, the car is just too popular: look at this for example http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/

I am inviting articles from other enthusiasts for that; for example http://2cvdirectory.com/reference/detail,1385474762.html

Thank you all for your encouraging comments, especially the gallery idea!

I understand that. But that file has a link that takes people away from your site. A blank index.html or php file would be better.

I used an index file from another one of my sites.
I have updated the index file now, and linked it to the homepage.

Cheers
