Hey Dave,

Good catch on that. But I noticed that the source code for both sites contains the same author information in a meta tag.

So, it's possible that this is an authorized copy of the site (which is dumb).

But it's also possible that this is the dumbest code thief in history.

So, I'm actually looking forward to finding out if this is dumb or dumber.

Dave and Spider are pretty sharp. Being SEO's, not a lot get past them. If you ripped off the site, here's some advice... 1st Don't, and 2nd if you do, don't submit it here.

Changes I would make...

1) Pull out the javascript from the html, and put it in a separate file

2) I would integrate your blog, so that it's seamless with the rest of your site. Meaning, not opening up a new page, and the blog would have the same theme as the rest of your site.

Holyinsomniac does indeed have an authorized copy of my codebase for CreativeProOffice.com. I license and sell the source code without too many restrictions. I have built a growing and faithful community around CPO for the past year and if someone else wants to venture into this space with my code, so be it. As long as I receive some compensation, I feel there are more than enough potential customers in this space for any one of us to give it a go.

I appreciate the vigilance of the Web Pro World community in bringing this to my attention.

As an update, I took it upon myself to notify the CreativeProOffice.com domain owner of this suspected plagiarism and gave him the link to this thread. He wrote back to me saying essentially the same thing he's said in this post.

So, it appears to be a legitimately duplicated site.

So, I've just spent a few minutes poking around your app. Overall, it seems like it could be very useful to some people. I don't personally use anything like this, but I can see how some people would like it.

I noticed that your "dashboard" image wasn't loading, so it made it more difficult to get back the app's dashboard.

I think that if you're going to have clients entering financial data and other info that may be sensitive, it would definitely be a good idea to put it through a secure connection.

The interface is clean and quite intuitive and I was impressed with how quickly everything loaded and responded. So, overall I'd say it's quite good.

Everyone else, I appreciate your comments and concerns on the legitimacy of the code. I am not a thief or a good php programmer for that matter. I am actually a project manager and sort of a web developer. When I saw this app, I liked it a lot, it shows the hard work put in by UpStart. I have some really nice enhancement plans and for it. Anyways, this is not the way I thought this thread would go. I know the home page needs a bit of polishing up.

Personally I would forget about SEO at this point in time.

The site is a copy. copy = duplicate content, duplicate content = supplemental index, or worse.

Copyscape sees 10 results 9 of which are pro office

You say your not very good with php. To be honest I think your going to learn it so you can change the look and content of the page so maybe you can rank. As it sits right now I would not let search engines crawl it till I made major changes. This will also stop you from having to ask Google to reconsider you if they beat you to the punch.

Well I can't really change the application right now itself. There will be enhancements in the near future. However, I appreciate your comment about duplicate content = crappy google ratings. You live and you learn is what I always believe in. I have already modified the Meta description, tags and such. I will spend the day today to modify the homepage itself. The next major thing to do here is to integrate it with the wordpress blog. That will be a challenge on its own.
