I know there isn't much to comment on when it comes to directories especially one that is still being tweaked, but I would like your input on it if you would be so kind.

Directory URL: High Heel Shoe Directory

My main concerns are:

Load times. I'm seeing "waiting for reply" when I first hit the site then once it connects it seems to load ok. But I have also been having an issue with my cable line here so I'm not sure if it is me or the host.

The look and colors. This sites engine is PHP Link directory with a custom template. The galleries engine is Coppermine that I also changed to make the layout look and feel the same. The Gallery is a beta to see if it flies. If it does I'm going to switch away from Coppermine to something better.

I'm working on the big empty white space under the categories right now, adding content and images. I feel this space is a bit much. Do you?

No problem with load time for me.
It looks like a template and I don't care for anything that looks like a template.

A couple of comments...

Too red for me. Might consider changing the sidebar links, head links, and footer links text to black. Goes with your category links and all the black heels in your header. Also, don't care for the white on the hover. It's a good idea to try and be consistant with your links from a usability standpoint.

The word "sexiest" *may* cause safe surf problems.

Spell check and punctuation check. Your "About Us" needs it.

Loaded fine for me.

Yes it was a template that I changed around so it would not look like every other site that uses the same one.

I'm not a big fan of templates either. My plan is to one day if the site goes over recode it from scratch. So as a test run I used a template and changed around the layout and colors to get the site up and running without too much time and money involved.

I will work on the hover color and try and find another one that looks better.
As far as the text color goes I will make those changes right away as after reading your post I have to agree.

I thought I went though the all pages and spelled checked everything but yes I have to go back recheck them.

A directory for high heels? Kind of weird to me but hey, this is internet, isn't it?

First of all, I suggest you remove the W3C validation badge since your directory is not valid with 66 errors on it. No harm here.

I agree with crankydave, yours is too bright. I try to look at it for minutes and it irritated my eyes totally. It may be your favorite color but being a directory, it doesn't belong to you. It belongs to the readers/visitors. Please think of this point thoroughly before pulling the trigger.

As mentioned by davebarnes, a template will always be a template unless you have some skills to tweak it. Honestly, I always ignore directories that are template based.

This is one of many geared towards high heels. There are also many blogs and forums.

I do not know why but I never checked it after I added the links. I will fix this asap.

I'm working on a total revamp now. From what I'm seeing is men do not like the colors. Women on the other hand seem to. But since men also wear them I have to please all.

If I had to guess I would have to say about 90% if not more of all directories are template based. The same is true with blogs.

Seems logic to me. Women love bright colors while men being the opposite. I love red as well. That's the only reason I've chosen dark-red theme for my blog. I guess, this is my preliminary attempt of win-win situation eh?

Indeed. Most of the directories are template driven but between template and theme, there's a huge different. It is quite annoying when people keep on imposing some fees to get listed. I hope yours is free though. Oh, some tips here. Why don't you make it easier for visitors to submit their link by getting rid of registration? It's sure handy for a start. Who knows eh?

The directory has free and paid listings available, where the gallery is 100% free. As far as the registration goes, it is set that way due to I'm working on the gallery. Once I get it all tweaked and make sure all the email and such are working the way I want it to, it will be set to registration not required.

You cannot offend me. I know my sites will not please everyone.
