Your site looks good but it doesn't feel good. Users generally do not like to scroll left or right. I think it would feel better if you would turn it into seperate pages. Users would much rather click to see the rest than scroll. If you must keep it all in the same document, arrange it so users can scroll down. Everyone is familiar with scrolling down. Just my opinion.

I have to agree with Dave. It's pretty bad...if I had not been there to review it, I would have been gone in 5 seconds. I'm sorry, but to be honest, I can't find anything positive to say about your site or even about the examples of your work.

Yikes, you're playing to a tough crowd today!

I agree with James113 - horizontal scrolling is not user-friendly, and it would be better to create individual pages for your portfolio.

But aidsntcg must have pretty rarefied taste if he/she doesn't see anything to like in the Heritage Park Bowral website. This strikes me as a very nice piece of work. Elegant, easy to understand and to navigate, this website should appeal to all age groups (although apparently not to frequenters of this forum). But you would be well advised to apply some of the "easy to use" principles to your own website.

For me, your site is a good example of "mystery meat navigarion" as discussed on Web Pages That Suck learn good web design by looking at bad web design Home Page

Your newness is shining through. I, as well as many others come here because, it is a tough crowd! Most of the regulars that hang out in this forum share and learn here, in order to provide clients as well as themselves with the best results possible in many areas of design, development, and marketing. You agree with me and then you disagree. Sounds to me like, you might be toshiedo's mother in disguise? To be totally honest, I didn't think the site was even close to being understandable until I "accidentally" moused over the blur and could suddenly make out any content. I moused over it on the way to the back "bounce" button. LOL.........

I have to disagree with this to a point. The regular members here "many I have a great deal of respect for" are not anywhere as tough as a site visitor.

Many members here:
1. Will wait 50 - 90 sec for a page to load.
2. Will stay and use a page that has bad navigation / broken links.
3. Will stay and look at a page that is blinding or just looks awful.

Visitors on the other hand will not.

My take on the site in question is the content itself is not too bad, but yes the navigation is a different story. When I first arrived at the page my eyes were on the picture in the center, not looking for a scroll bar at the bottom. When the picture stayed dim I thought "ok it is a hover", but nothing happened when my mouse scrolled over it. Then I tried the scroll wheel on the mouse. Nothing. Then I noticed the white bar at the bottom. Your visitors will not give that much time to try and figure out how to use your page. They do not want to hunt and search. They want info and they want it now. I too think if you broke the site down into individual pages you would not just be giving your visitors a common feel, but you will also have more pages that can be indexed. You could have a navigation bar / menu that could have anchor text. You could keyword and title every page. You could make the site user friendly.

is what I meant by tough!

Except you forgot number four!!!

4. Then when they are done, they will reply to your post with an honest opinion, whether you like the answer or not.

I've been reading posts in this forum for 7yrs, It took me three years of studying these forums before I felt I had enough skill to produce anything worth showing to this "tough crowd". LOL
