I have a site Welcome this is a tourism information portal for the South African West Coast. This site is normally between 4 and 10 on google under the search term --South African West Coast-

The number 1 is Account has been suspended - H-Sphere (this site has been suspended) and number 3 is Route 27 West Coast South Africa. West Coast accommodation! (this site has also been suspended)

What is wrong with my site Welcome that it can not get to number 1

here are a few things that may help

1. Fix your page titles. Data shows top ranking pages have an average of between 6 and 7 words / 66 characters or less including spaces. Also try and use a few keywords in your page titles.

2. You can get rid of Meta name "Robots, Googlebot, msnbot, robots revisit after"

3. On your left navigation table add titles tags to the links

4. Do not link to "http://www.sawestcoasttourism.com/index.html" you should link to "http://www.sawestcoasttourism.com"

5. Your keyword and descriptions are the same on every page. This needs to be changed. Try to use around 4-8 keywords / phrases and around 160 but no more than 200 characters in your description

6. Get backlinks with good anchor text.

7. Clean up your images. Some look bad and are pixelized

8. Get rid of the counter

9. Do not use small unreadable text. Your disclaimer mainly.

10. Add more content. I found the site lacking to be honest.

11. If you link to a page NOT on the same domain have it open in a NEW window. Some of your navigation table links take visitors away from your site.

12. Your sitemap uses protocol 0.84 Google adheres to 0.9

13. In your site map <loc>http://www.sawestcoasttourism.com/</loc>, <loc>http://www.sawestcoasttourism.com/index.html</loc>
As stated in #4. These pages are the same page and can lead to a duplicate content issues.
